London Camping and Caravan Parks
The freedom of movement that a caravan can give is often hampered by a lack of local knowledge: where to stop is often a tricky question.
If you're looking for a camping site or caravan park in your local borough of London, you've come to the right place. There are 5 suitable sites within the orbital M25 motorway. And if Central London is your target, you can complete your journey from all of them by public transport.
Lee Valley Camping and Caravan Park
The Lee Valley Camping and Caravan Park is part of the Lee Valley Leisure Complex in Edmonton. This quiet, pet-friendly site has modern showers and kitchens. A golf course, reservoirs, cinemas, Epping Forest and the Lee Valley Park are all nearby and Central London is about 40 minutes on the Tube. The maximum stay permitted is 14 days.
Abbey Wood Caravan Club Site
East of Greenwich, Abbey Wood is a grassy site screened by mature trees. There are good train connections (35 minutes) into Central London, and nearby Greenwich is an attraction in its own right. River boats to St Paul's and Tower Bridge are an alternative to land transport. It has excellent facilities and is open all year.
Crystal Palace Caravan Club Site
You can park and ride straight to Piccadilly from the Crystal Palace Caravan Club. Jump on the No 3 bus from this hilly, wooded South London site near Crystal Palace, and get off in bustling Central London. Pets off leads and children on bikes are discouraged, but Crystal Palace Park will absorb any surplus energy. Open all year with a 21-night limit on stays.
Lee Valley Campsite
The Lee Valley Campsite is a gently sloping, green site in Sewardstone with metalled access roads and stands. There is easy access to Central London from Walthamstow Central, a short bus ride away. If you don't want to travel that far, Epping Forest and the Lee Valley Park are close by. Open from mid March to early November.
The Elms Caravan and Camping Park
Set in the 6,000-acre conservation area of Epping Forest The Elms is open from March to the end of October. It is a small, quiet, family-run park that has pitches for caravans, motor homes and tents, plus cottages and log cabins to rent. The child-friendly Owl pub is next door, and Central London is 30 minutes away by Tube.
