The multiple award-winning Cinnamon Club, in St James' is like no other Indian restaurant you've visited. Set in the former Old Westminster Library - a Grade II listed building still with books lining the walls - it has a grandeur and character that perfectly complements its outstanding food. The team of 18 chefs, headed up by Vivek Singh, have a creative approach and a distinctive knack of layering flavours, and stunning presentation. The imaginative dinner menu changes daily. THe Cinnamon club is a spectacular venue but this airy ex public library was very cold on a winter's night. Despite staff outnumbering diners meals were delivered to the table two at a time leaving food time to warm the room! Cloakroom service also slow.
We had an excellant meal in warm, convivial and vibrant surroundings on what was a rather chilly evening.
We had the Cinnamon Club 3 courses & bellini for £22 offer. Food & service excellent & great value for money. It was the first time we had dined here & my only critisicm is the offer menu was a little limited & I dont think it truly represented The restaurant to its full potential. This was a taster to see if we would return on the full menu and I do think with a little more flair to the taster menu we would of 100% gone back, rather than only 70% currently. However quality over all excellent!
We visited the Cinnamon Club on the £22 toptable deal, so my comments are in respect of that. The food was uniformly excellent, with the Old Delhi Chicken Curry main course in particularly being quite sublime, one of the best (of many) curries I've had in years. The service was attentive and the overall experience relaxed and enjoyable. Though we'll need to save up before we do so, we hope to visit again on the normal menu, but on this showing, it should be worth it.
Seating for two slightly cramped, not great if you want an intimate evening (tables close together).
Crab starter was divine, masala fish souce was excellent and would recommend the mushroom and spinach side dish.
Comprehensive wine list, although slightly pricey.
12.5% service charge, automatically added, probably deserved to be fair.
