Kenwood House
About Kenwood House
Discover world-famous art collections, in fashionable Hampstead. Set in tranquil leafy parkland with sweeping views over London, Kenwood House was remodelled for Lord Mansfield by the great Robert Adam. Among its splendid interiors hangs the wonderful Iveagh Bequest of paintings, including masterpieces by Vermeer, Rembrant, Turner, Reynolds and Gainsborough: along with the Suffolk Collection's magnificent portraits of Elizabethan and Stuart celebrities. The 18th century landscaped grounds preserve many original features.

Idyllic English experience
A trip to the Kenwood house coupled with a relaxed walk across Hampstead Heath is a wonderful way to spend a half-day in London.
I chose Kenwood House itself because Vermeer's "The Guitar Player," which you can see up-close in a quiet environment. Works by Rembrandt, Turner, and Hals round out the collection.
A leisurely walk across Hampstead Heath back to the subway rounded out a nice afternoon. Hampsted Heath is remarkable for its wide-open spaces and picturesque woods, meadows, hills, and ponds.
Combined with a trip to Hampstead makes for a Wonderful Day
First Kenwood House is fairly easy to get to via the underground and bus. Don't be afraid of the bus transfer (Golders Green tube stop) Its so easy and the locals are more than happy to help you. At Kenwood House the bus stops directly at the estate's entrance gate.
Second its free and its beautiful
The Brewhouse opens at 9:00 for breakfast and both the breakfast and lunch are outstanding. Plenty of locals with their dogs... very quaint that way.
Honest its a beautiful estate and really easy to get to. We combined it with a London Walk's tour of Hampstead
Made for a perfect day
A unique gallery
A perfect Adam house, with some great works of art inside, surrounded by a gorgeous park - and just 5 miles from Oxford Circus. The house is never too busy even at weekends, and there is time to appreciate the beautiful pictures by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Gainsborough and others. The cafe is reasonably priced, and has lovely atmosphere in the garden.
