I dined at the Simpson's in the strand ten years ago for the first time and the legendary traditional roast beef restaurant still keeps the high standard of the quality of food, service and the 'Britishness' today.

Simpsons in the Strand excelled themselves.A very busy day,(Lunch the day before Xmas eve) a request for a booth was met after a short wait.Nothing was too much trouble. An enquiry about an old bar downstairs resulted in a courtious tour and some Simpsons literature.Yes, it is not cheap, but the ambience, service and sense of occasion makes it a place not to miss.Delighted. The Beef was the best.

10 deadly sins seems to be less deadly than it used to be and service was pretty slow (and eggs were got wrong) but Simpsons in the Strand is still agreat venue for breakfast.

Simpson's was a fun Sunday lunch. We expected the formality of the Ritz but were surprised at the relaxed, welcoming and casual ambience. Nevertheless, this is a quintessentially English experience - the wheeling up of the trolley then the great carving act is done with great aplomb. The meat was superb but we could not say that for the trimmings - Yorkshire puddings large but dry and near ash like ; vegetables adequate but unexciting. £90 per head should produce better overall quality.
